On the grounds of the recent shutdown where the congress could not reach a deal on the immigration matters, Senate majority leader Mr. Mitch Mcconnell informed that if these issues are not resolved before the funding bill expires on February 8, 2018, the leader would take necessary steps to make sure that a legislation is brought up that would address the concerns regarding DACA, border security and other important immigration matters.
The GOP leader pledged “this immigration debate will have a level playing field at the outset and an amendment process that is fair to all sides,” he said.
Behind the scenes, a group of centrist Democrats and Republicans have been trying to work out a deal on immigration.
Mr. Mcconnell did not specify any particular provisions that would be included in the bill. He only stated that he hopes to get the immigration fight, as well as separate discussions on disaster relief, health care and the budget caps, finished "as quickly as possible.
